Jen recently gave a presentation titled “Compassion for Your Clients and Respect for the Role We Play in People’s Lives as Their Attorneys” as part of Minnesota CLE’s “What Matters Most 2016 in Trusts & Estates Practice. ”
Jayne and Jen each recently led presentations during this year’s 2016 Strategic Solutions for Solo & Small Firms conference organized by Minnesota CLE. Jayne gave a talk on “Understanding and Using Healthcare Directives and Powers of Attorney,” and Jen on “How to Use Revocable and Irrevocable Trusts – Plus a Word About the Recent Amendment to the Uniform Trust Act.”
Jayne and Jen recently participated in a panel discussion outlining the “Anatomy of a Maritalized Family Trust Will.” Jayne and Jen, along with colleagues, who are all authors and editors of the Drafting Wills and Trust Agreements Deskbook, discussed how to use one of the most important clauses in one of the most comprehensive estate planning forms in the Deskbook.
Super Lawyers Magazine named both Jayne Sykora and Jen Santini to the 2016 Rising Stars list for the State of Minnesota. This is the third year in a row Jayne and Jen have received this honor.
Rising Stars are limited to no more than 2.5 percent of qualifying attorneys. Super Lawyers selects attorneys using a patented multiphase selection process in which peer nomination and evaluations are combined with third party research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis.

Jayne and Jen along with Epilawg colleagues, Maggie Green and Jamie Held, recently participated as presenters at the 2016 Probate & Trust Law Section Conference with “Practicalities of Retitling Assets and Updating Beneficiary Designations: Dotting the I’s and Crossing the T’s of an Estate Plan.” The presentation provided various examples of situations encountered when retitling assets and updating beneficiary designations for clients and providing practical suggestions on how to best overcome various issues that come up.
Jayne recently participated as a presenter in the Minnesota State Bar Association seminar “Start Your Solo/Small Firm: The First Five Years” along with attorneys Rebecca Schack, Joe Larson, Kevin Sieben, and Bill Gschwind. The presentation shared the experiences of lawyers who started and built successful small and solo practices.
