Jayne and Jen are participating in two panel discussions today as part of Minnesota Continuing Legal Education’s Estate and Trust Half Day Seminars. The morning session focuses on the key forms to include in an estate plan and discusses the Maritalized Family Trust Will and the Maritalized Revocable Trust along with colleagues Michael Sampson and J. Steve Nys. The afternoon session is a panel discussion along with colleague, Ruthanne Hedstrom Vos, examining other key forms in the estate plan including Powers of Attorney, Beneficiary Designations including the Revocable Trust for Retirement Plan Benefits form, Health Care Directives, and the pros and cons of retitling assets when using a Revocable Trust.
Super Lawyers Magazine named both Jayne and Jen to the 2017 Rising Stars list for the State of Minnesota. Rising Star is an honor that is limited to no more than 2.5 percent of qualifying attorneys. Super Lawyers selects attorneys using a patented multiphase selection process in which peer nomination and evaluations are combined with third party research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis.
Jayne recently participated in a panel discussion titled “Unsuspecting Probate Issues – Lessons Learned in Probate Administrations” at the 2017 Probate and Trust Law Section Conference held in St Paul. Jayne, along with colleagues Maggie Green and Jamie Held, discussed strategies for handling unsuspecting and unique problems that can arise in the course of probate administration. Jen contributed to the written materials for the presentation.

Jayne gave a talk on “Understanding and Using Healthcare Directives and Powers of Attorney,” and Jen on “How to Use Revocable and Irrevocable Trusts – Plus a Word About the Recent Amendment to the Uniform Trust Act.”
Jayne and Jen recently participated in a panel discussion outlining the “Anatomy of a Maritalized Family Trust Will.” Jayne and Jen, along with colleagues, who are all authors and editors of the Drafting Wills and Trust Agreements Deskbook, discussed how to use one of the most important clauses in one of the most comprehensive estate planning forms in the Deskbook.
