Jayne & Jen Present at Minnesota CLE’s DWTA Forms Series

Over the last month, both Jayne and Jen have had the opportunity to present at Minnesota CLE as part of the organization’s Drafting Wills and Trusts (DWTA) Forms Series. As members of the DWTA committee, Jayne and Jen meet monthly with other volunteer attorneys to discuss and update the desk book many attorneys around Minnesota use to assist their clients with estate planning.

On February 15th, Jen presented on “General Provisions & Boilerplate.” Jen, along with Mike Sampson, Andrea Breckner, and Ruthanne Hedstrom, provided an in-depth view of several boilerplate provisions in the will and trust forms. They also discussed circumstances for using various miscellaneous clauses and provided numerous practice pointers.

On February 22nd, Jayne braved “snowmageddon” and presented on a wide variety of topics. In the morning, she and Paula Stumne covered planning for married couples, specifically how to decide between a joint revocable trust and two separate revocable trusts. In the afternoon, Jayne presented with Bob Lynn and Edward Tully. In the first afternoon session, they covered irrevocable trusts and how to use the forms, which can serve as a base for implementing numerous useful estate planning techniques. In the second afternoon session, the presenters elaborated on planning for unmarried clients and some of the unique challenges that can arise in this increasingly-common situation.

Thank you to Minnesota CLE for having Jayne and Jen!
